Too little too late? Booking.com say they will pay back €65 million

Following the current scandal over Reserving.com’s gross misuse of monetary help to pay government bonuses, RTL Nieuws studies that the corporate will repay the €65 million it obtained from the federal government.

In 2020, the Dutch journey web site Reserving.com obtained €65 million in wage help from the Dutch authorities’s NOW scheme. Regardless of this funding, the corporate laid off 1 / 4 of its workforce final summer time.  

That was typically accepted as successful from the pandemic — till Reserving.com shareholders authorised a choice to pay out €28 million in bonuses to the corporate’s high three executives earlier this week! Understandably, this has led to an enormous public outcry.

Responding to the criticism a Reserving.com spokesperson introduced that the corporate has been carefully following the controversy that this scandal has triggered in Dutch society and that they “take this criticism very critically”.

The corporate states that they’d all the time supposed to try to pay again the subsidy that they obtained from the NOW scheme. Nonetheless, in gentle of the controversy, Reserving.com is upping its efforts to repay this debt.
